Insensitivity to Pain
- Unintentional self-injury
- biting the tongue, lips, or fingers (usually as a child)
- slow healing from skin and bone injuries
- can be that pain is not even perceived or that the person lacks the appropriate response to pain (no flinching/withdrawing from pain)
- body can't cool itself
- overheating & sometimes heatstroke
- little to no perspiration
- dizziness
- muscle cramps / weakness
- flushing
- feeling hot
- heat cramps
- muscle pain / spasms
- heat exhaustion
- weakness, nausea & rapid pulse
- body temp of 103°F (39.5°C) or higher
- skin may be hot, red or dry
- can cause loss of conciousness
- wear loose, light clothing when it's warm
- stay cool indoors on hot days
- spray bottle of water to cool yourself
